braddx15 150 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 I am a big fan of Selfies (Photos of the escort taken in a mirror by herself). I once asked an escort why she only posted professional photos of her self and never posted any selfies. Her answer was that a lot of client assume that if you take selfies it is because you do not have enough money for professional pictures because you use the money for drugs. So I am curios to know if that is true. Do people think less of an escort who posts selfies as opposed to pictures that are taken by a professional photographer?

6dave9 4008 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) Selfies can be fun.. at best.. most are less than ideal simply because its such a poor quality shot; blurry, crappy framing, lousy exposure (in a photographic manner here plz) and the background in the selfy... a lot are taken in the bathroom and you see every single article of personal toiletry all over the ba-jesis place., it looks like a total disaster.. or in a bedroom that has 4 piles or dare I say mountains of laundry that needs attention... and that is supposed to be sexy..??? ..just generally unflattering to the lady in question IMO, and not the best to promote your business. Yes Pro-shoots have the biggest wow factor and yes, it can be expensive. What puzzles me, is everyone know someone ( another SP or MA, or just a friend that is cool) with a half decent DSLR and even a simple point-and-shot digi-cam.. right..?? So take an hour or 2 from your day, pick some of your favorite outfits, a glass of wine and have fun.. ;-) My 2c. D. EmilyRushton 253372 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) I choose to invest in my business so I only use professional photos on my website and ads, however I do post the odd selfie on twitter every now and then. I find the occasional selfie adds to who I am and allows others to see another side of myself. Keep in mind each lady is different and each one will do what is right for her and her business, personally I would not trust just anyone with a camera to take my photos (you never know what they will do with them afterwards) Edited March 15, 2014 by *****ru****n
6dave9 4008 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 To Emily's point, just to add to my last post.. The camera may belong to someone else, but the memory card stays with the SP/MA. Thx
roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 What is even more important than whether a photo is a selfie or professional to me at least, is first, is it an accurate portrayal of the lady, and second, that the photo(s) are up to date and current. A lady keeping her photos current, to me is the most important thing A rambling RG
Miss Jessica Lee 43328 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 for someone who doesn't show their face, tattoos etc selfies can often present a challenge, which is why I update my pro shots so frequently. It's important to still stay up to date. I tweet the occasional selfie but they are mostly fully clothed or distant for discretion reasons. The 'mirror' selfie can often fail due to where the mirror is placed in the room. Mirrored closet doors next to the bed can be huge fun but if you're working with a bathroom mirror the effect isn't as classy IMO. I find it's most important that the pics be of the lady in the advertisement. I just read another review of a lady that was glowing and positive, and mentioned that even though the pics are fake, they are 'close enough'. Bullshit.

Even if it is a girl who's profile I have viewed in the past and was not interested in. There have been times when the new pics have turned me around on a girl and I have gone and seen her. I think one of the features of new cell phone cameras that is under used is the timer. To 6Dave9's point about the poor quality of selfies I think that is one way to overcome that issue. Most new phone cameras have a more than high enough resolution for use on the internet.
IsaMassage 54318 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 I love selfies... Yes I like Proffessional photography as well.., but I want gentlemen to meet me and not a photoshopped image of me.. I much rather they come to me and say... wow you look much better in person than in your pics than.. have them disapointed because the picture was not a true reflection of the person that they hope to meet... As you all can see I have a mix of all sort of pics... Selfies, regular pics taken by someone else, Good pictures (not proffesional) but taken with a good quality camera and technique... and Proffesional pics as well....
NotchJohnson 214123 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 I'm not a professional photographer even though I have taken a course on how to use different function on one. I have seen ladies and told them that they looked fantastic with their outfit, clothed or semi clothed and that they should post the picture on their site or Cerb and they have let me take the picture. I recognize some pics taken by me here and on their sites, you ladies are so photogenic that it is so easy to take the picture. So to conclude, if you have your own camera which most of you ladies do let us guys take pictures of your sexy body in attires or not, you might find us cheap photographers. Just my 2 cents. CristyCurves 169032 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 The majority of my pictures are selfies and they've served me well. I've had some of my other photos done by clients. I've considered hiring a pro but haven't as of yet because I haven't felt the need or had desire to, perhaps after my workouts start to show;) I do think however no matter what method of pictures an sp chooses there will be someone unsatisfied and wanting more or different. Do what suits you. After all a pictures purpose is to show a clear or recent depiction of the person offering her or his time. To go beyond that and add a portfolio of poses and more artistic type shots I'm sure is advantageous but shouldn't make or break anyone, after all do you want to see the person pictured or do you want to see how they can pose? defensedave 1158 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 I like the selfi, well as long as there is no duck face. I find most of the professional pics tend to look similar so even though the ladies are very different the over all feel of the photos are the same. I like the raw untouched scenes that show the truth and try to hide anything. Just my 2 cents so now I am broke.
Guest K***e D****ls Report post Posted March 14, 2014 Anyone who has been to my website knows I put a lot of time, effort, thought and money into my professional pictures. I have new photos done every two months and it's a little something I'm known for in the business. I love being in front of the camera, I love letting my personality show through whatever set or outfit I'm shooting in, and I think guys pick up on that. That being said, photoshop runs rampant in this business. I have an album of candids on my website (and I post candids on twitter all the time) to prove that what you see if actually what you get. I blur my face, photoshop a tell-tale mole out of my professional pictures and even out the odd uneven skin tone. That's it. Zero body sculpting. So the best of both worlds. Guest Ou**or**n Report post Posted March 14, 2014 Pro photos can be a mixed thing. One one level they show the lady to be a pro and both in this for the long term and willing to invest in her image. On the downside there is always the risk they will be overly photoshopped. I've not seem some ladies because their photos look too photoshopped. Boomer 33202 Report post Posted March 14, 2014 It really doesn't matter if done as a selfie or professional. Pictures are a great tool and should be done periodically, some ladies put up pictures which haven't been refreshed for years and it detracts from their marketing strategy. That said, if doing it as a selfie it's important to take the time to think out and plan the shots so the are truly representative. As an example, pose to highlight your best features, think about the lighting, and consider what will be shown in the background. I've seen ashtrays with buts visible, beer bottles and unkempt beds which detract from what you want to portray. You pay the the pros to take the time to consider these sort of things, but it's quite possible to do quite a good DIY job wit a little thought. Fresh start 17467 Report post Posted March 15, 2014 Well I have to say I'm on the fence on this one. Professional photo shoot can be very beautiful and artistic but so can a selfie. I enjoy both the spur of the moment spontaneous picture or the posed just right with perfect angle. To me a smile is still a smile. I love the full make up look just as much as the no make up look. I don't care if I can't see a face but you get brownie points if I catch a smile:)

I don't think anyone looks at selfies and thinks drugs..maybe I'm wrong. I have both. The first client I ever saw actually gave me the idea. I had professional shots and he found that curious. As a news girl why would I have invested in them? He asked for a selfie just to verify and it made him feel safer. I had no issue as (like everyone knows) my pictures are real. He was at ease. I was at ease. Everything was sorted out. Also selfies mean I can shoot something new and sexy ASAP or whenever the mode strikes
Guest Miss Jane TG Report post Posted March 15, 2014 Professional pictures and selfies both could be photo-shopped with layers, brushes etc. Therefore authenticity of the picture, or in other words, the actual picture's reflection of the reality is dependent on the effects added to the picture and not the mode of taking the picture. The reason that some sex workers prefer professional pictures, websites, etc is the fact that it shows that the sex worker in question is taking this business seriously. Please don't get me wrong to assume all other sex workers who are relying on selfies, no websites are not taking their business seriously or that the quality of the services is "absolutely" dependent on those measures. There are ways to tell if the picture is "excessively" manipulated and with some eye training, the client could tell what is a fair play from photo-shop flattering. Most top professional artists actually hate photo-shop and rely mainly on the light exposure to maximize the capture.
Warped88 5815 Report post Posted March 15, 2014 As a photographer, I have no issues with either the selfie or the professional shot for the ladies. This issue I do have with selfies is many are just poor quality making it difficult to discern anything. And that issue is cured 99% of the time by simply turning on some lights. That simple. The camera in any of today's phones (and a few years back) are up to the task, but they all need light.:) Taking a fair amount of shots helps as well. It's nothing for me (or any photographer), out of 300 shots, to discard 95% of them as useless. Anyway, selfie or pro, as long as the photo is clear, I'm good to go. :)
Guest c**io**m7 Report post Posted March 15, 2014 I am a huge fan of selfies and/or non-photoshopped photos. Simply put, I hate enhanced professional photos. I prefer, when I see ladies, to know right away that the lady before me is indeed the lady in her photos.
mrgreen760 37785 Report post Posted March 15, 2014 I prefer things natural, though I do get why some opt for professionals. And I do appreciate well done and well thought out photo's particularly black and whites, it's just some times they're almost too perfect. Mikeyboy 27133 Report post Posted March 15, 2014 I enjoy both types of shots. I don't think I would ever prejudge a person based on the fact that they are using selfies, but I have judged on their choices in those shots. If they can't be bothered to move the piles of dirty clothes or move the ashtrays and dishes out of the shot, I think that says something about the person. It still doesn't necessarily indicate that they are on drugs, but it does show that they are likely not for me. I also find that the shotgun approach to photos is not always best approach either. Even if they are not professional shots, take some time to review them and select a handful of good, enticing, flattering pics. I'd rather see 6 of your best shots than 100 random pics of varying quality. I've often found this to be the case with selfies as it is so easy to just take more shots. Kathryn Bardot 99339 Report post Posted March 15, 2014 I use professional photographers, because my photos don't show my face or most of my tattoos, and it can also be a really fun experience! All of my shoots have been with other ladies, and we make a day out of it.
