Open letter: 300 researchers call for decriminalization of sex work in Canada

Wow, that is an extremely well written letter that in unequivocal in its rejection of both criminalization of sex work or the cimininalization of purchasers of sex. The list of signatories is impressive.

 

I particularly like (and agree) with its argument that either of these would create the same levels of harm as the current laws which were just struck down by the SCC.

 

While I have my doubts of any of the party leaders reading it and taking it to heart from an evidence-based harm reduction approach, I hope the advisers to the government strongly see the growing consensus among educated academics and lawyers that any new laws in this regard are likely to be struck down by the SCC.
