Sweet Emily J 172062 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 Conservatives and abolitionists are missing the big picture on sex work BY JASON CONGDON | MAY 6, 2014 http://rabble.ca/news/2014/05/conservatives-and-abolitionists-are-missing-big-picture-on-sex-work?utm_content=buffer0e7ea&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer As Justice Minister Peter MacKay prepares to table new laws governing sex work, Canadians are hearing a lot about the Nordic model of prostitution policy. The Nordic model approach penalizes paying for sex while decriminalizing the sale of sex. However, that's just one meaning of the Nordic model. The other also indicates Scandinavian socio-economic policy in general: "the combination of a free market economy with a welfare state." The Economist recently hailed this as the "next supermodel." cinelli 22184 Report post Posted May 13, 2014 Good article. Tory policy has no interest in the big picture. Whatever their policy is, it will not have any interest in well being of prostitutes. It is all about what will appeal to voters. Look at their nonsensical response to the safe injection site in Vancouver. They disregard all the experts. They preach their hate-filled anti crime crap and try to close the place. Facts don't matter. Experts are ridiculed, from scientists with PhDs to the Chief Justice of our Supreme Court. Votes are all that matter. Tory MPs continue to say really stupid things, often offensive. More and more I wonder if there is some hidden puppetmaster telling these clowns what to do and say. Look at McKay, he is clearly not a really smart guy. All he does is stick to his talking points provided by party staffers. He never says anything insightful or imaginative. No Tory would read The Economist. Too many big words and not enough pictures.

LeeRichards 177238 Report post Posted May 13, 2014 I think Peter Mackay and Joy Smith should get a room and be locked in there until they fuck themselves sensible again. But that is just my opinion.
