Erectile dysfunction is one of the first signs of cardiovascular disease:

http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/erectile-dysfunction/in-depth/erectile-dysfunction/art-20045141

If blood isn't flowing properly to your johnson, it's probably not flowing properly elsewhere in your body. Eating food that clogs your arteries will eventually take a toll on your ability to raise the flag, so to speak. Diet and lifestyle changes can reverse erectile dysfunction just as effectively as pharmaceutical products with documented side effects.

Ask your doctor about the *cause* of your ED. Ask about risk factors for atherosclerosis and get a blood test done.

Settle down belgbeer. We arent all dying of heart attacks tomorrow. Not sure how old you are but testosterone levels in the body drop as we age, making it difficult for us to maintain our "woodies" like we did in our early 20's. These drugs are a nice little assistance for us getting up there in the aging process. If its not happening to you just yet give it some time!!

In addition to age, things like stress, not sleeping properly, and many other factors can contribute to ED, so no need to tell us that our hearts are unhealthy.

That has to be one of the silliest comments I've read on here in ages. You obviously have no idea how CVD works or how many Canadians are affected by it. If you don't care about your own health, that's all fine and well, but don't confuse your old age for medical wisdom.

Incidentally, stress and lack of sleep also contribute to CVD.

Personally I use Cialais, I travel a lot and can easily stock up in a country where it is over the counter. Cialias comes in two strengths. A 5 mg pill for 24 hours ( more or less) and a 20 mg one good for 4 days.

I can get the 5 mg on cards of 4 or 20 pills or the 20 mg on cards of 2 or 4 pills.

Got an OK from my Doctor before I started buying it, just in case.

Here's a quote from that article that supports Goodguy1757's contention that age is also a factor in ED, and in older men, ED isn't necessarily an indicator of CV disease. ED in men under 50 or 55 definitely merits thorough investigation; in older men, less so.

"Age also plays a role. The younger men are, especially those under age 50, it's more likely that erectile dysfunction is a sign of a cardiac issue. In men over age 70, it's much less likely to be a sign of heart disease."

You won't know until you get a blood test done. If you'd rather not find out, by all means, don't.

That bit of info is for people who care about their health, not those who would rather live in denial.

Actually, I'm from Winnipeg and live here now. My profile was created while I was working in Ottawa.

But if that's really your reaction, I'd say your self-esteem needs just as much of a boost as your johnson.

Hey fellows now be nice and stop squabbling.:icon_smile:

As a SP that sees older gents, ( younger as well ) there are so many factors to assess when addressing and treating ED.

The most important thing to remember is don't be shy and address it accordingly. See your doctor or walk in clinic doc and get the best treatment for you particular condition.

Then take your medicine and have fun!!!
