OroGold Cosmetics in mall and in mall kiosks: SCAM! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Recommended Posts

I am not sure how they are getting away with scamming that many people. If someone told me they were going to give it to me at their employee discount and not to tell the boss, I would know right away it was a scam, because who in their right mind would want to be party to that. Also when they would ring it in at the price they supposedly are selling it to you and you using your credit card, the boss would know it wasn't the employee purchasing the product. Are people that gullible?

How they are able to ring in purchases and finalize the sale without the person's authorization? Doesn't make sense. There is no way I would let them run my credit card or debit card before knowing the total. If they don't have a chip system, I won't deal with them. If they wanted me to hand over my card to swipe, no way. No one touches my card. I have been skimmed before. If someone rang through the wrong amount on my card, I would call the cc company and have them reverse it. If enough people complained, they would lose their merchant status.

Surely there must be a provincial regulatory body in Alberta that deals with investigating consumer complaints and shutting down unscrupulous vendors. I do not think they are allowed to solicit business by standing in front of the store and solicit you in. Even at those make-over kiosks the mall, the girl can only offer you the make-over, you if you stop at the kiosk.

Thanks for the warning, but in this day and age, if someone is scammed by a company that they can track down (in the mall) and they continue to operate, obviously people are going along with it.

I would be more concerned that the HST number they have on their receipt is legit. I know someone who stayed a seedy motel and they were issuing hand printed receipt showing taxes. He asked for a printout showing the HST number, the guy produced a computer generated receipt and it turned out the HST number was fake.

Avoid avoid avoid!!

They were here as well in Winnipeg. The girl said she was Israeli, I don't know if they have legitimate visas for salespeople.

Extremely pushy and annoying. One was polishing the nails of a girl I was with. She was asking all kinds of personal inappropriate questions. The polishing kit looked like it was worth five bucks but they wanted seventy, then offered it for fifty. It was just a little half ounce bottle of oil and a tiny sponge pad. Ridiculous.

Yeah she wanted my credit card before she would clearly say what the price was. I can see how abuse could happen.

Another woman I know said they were so rude she had complained to the mall management. They told her she wasn't the only one to complain.
