How do I enforce a no review policy

Recommended Posts

You can be asked to be placed on the DNR/DND (Do not review/recommend or Discuss) lists. All reputable discussion boards have these.

Things you should know...

1) If you ask to be placed on the list we do publish your name on the list

2) Some members will assume you are trying to avoid negative comments

3) You would not be permitted to advertise or contribute on the board where you have asked to be on the DNR list (That would not be fair)

4) Any data posted about you before your request to be on the DNR/DND list may be kept on the sites. Cerb has a no-negative review policy so anything negative about you found on this site would be removed (With or without the DNR/DND list)

5) We (site moderators or owners) of escort discussion boards such as this do not have 100% control over what is posted on the site as most members can post in real time and we do not always read every thread posted. If you ask to be on the DNR/DND list it is up to you (Not us) to watch for posts being made about you.

If you find someone has posted something about you after you have asked to be on the DNR list you can flag it and the post would be removed (and the member who posted it would be warned or possibly be removed depending on what was posted).

Many long term members will FLAG posts made about people who are on the DNR list.

***If you wish to be placed on the DNR list on cerb you need to PM me.

The mod caan help you they will put your name in the no review area and if one does I am sure the mod willl remove it.

But reviews usually generate business and all reviews must be postive.

You can have a 'no review' policy and still be on cerb as long as you are not on the DRN list here...

There are some escorts here now that do not allow reviews of themselves (as started on their sites), but they are not on the 'do not review' list here and participate/use to participate.

How you would enforce such, I wouldn't know though..

There are, as mod points out, several sites that have such things and you would still be able to participate and advertise on those sites. Each site has its own set of rules, and if there is one that you have joined or paid for advertising on and they won't respect your wishes, simply withdraw your support and place your $$ and postings elsewhere.

If you have a website and/or in your ads just say you have a No Review Policy. Alot of established reputable sps have this because they do not want any new reviews or need them. That means that anyone who books an appt with you agrees as a condition to see you that they will respect that request.

These are about all the things you can do. If might be advisable to allow a couple of approved reviews, like on this site, to link into your website for potential clients to refer to, so it is more obvious you aren't refusing reviews due to bad service. You would only want a review, tho, from a well established board member with several reviews behind them.

There are a lot of respectful reviewers who will allow you to remove certain things from a review for your privacy or comfort level.

I did a review for an SP, at her request. She proofread it, asked that I make a couple of changes (which I did) and then posted the review. She had asked that I change a couple of details, but the overall rating that I gave was all mine. I agree wth some of the others who recommend that you have at least a couple of reviews in order to avoid questions regarding the quality of the service you are providing. Just my humble opinion.

I Now , have my lawyer involved.
They will not be able to do much. They may be able to scare the owner of the website into thinking you could sue him/her and he/she may panic and pull the reviews if he is concerned about being taken to court. When you know someone is serious enough to get a lawyer involved you usually take the quick and easy way to make it all go away as no one likes court or lawyers for that matter. The only ones who seam to win in a court battle these days are the lawyers.

You can search the whois info on the domain name (Maybe you will get lucky and it is not a private registration - most are these days) and if so have your lawyer friend draw up a cease and desist letter and send it by registered mail to the address on the whois.

Some scary emails threatening legal action from a actual accredited lawyer may do the trick as well but most websites that allow negative reviews know that they are still pretty safe from any legal action and it's pretty hard to track down the owners of many of these sites (often they are not even in the country you would expect them to be in). THink about how HUGE google is and if you look on BLOGGER you will see 10000's of slanderous blogs and google does not get sued or held accountable for any of it... same as craigs list and other sites. Most are US based sites where everyone sues everyone for sport as well... we have slightly different laws here in Canada but not different enough to make that much of a difference when it comes to law suits for this type of thing.

You would need to prove that the post is damaging to your business and most sp's don't want there real names and identity being out in the court system with everyone to see as public record. You would need to publicly admit what you do and explain how this impacts your business (many of these sites bank on the fact that most ladies would not want to do this). When ever you have a public legal battle you risk the media picking up the story (and escort stories are fairly popular).

It would cost you 1000's to take the case to a higher level court (between lawyer costs, time off work and expenses) plus it's stressful with very little reward because the time it's all over it's been long forgotten about as the courts don't move very fast, everything gets drawn out with appeal after appeal and in the end the lawyers are richer and your nothing would really be accomplished.

Chances are the site makes little (or next to no money) and you would have a hard time recovering your costs as even if you win a judgment the guy/girl has to have money to pay you as you can not squeeze water from stone.

The courts could order the site to give you the IP address of the person who wrote the post (This technically is the person responsible for this) and you would need to have the IP traced back (it could have been made from a public wifi point, a internet cafe, a hotel, etc... so a chance exists that you would not be able to find out who posted it in the first place) If you did manage to find out you would need to subpoena the ISP (Rogers, Bell, etc...) and have them disclose who the user was.

Than you would need to file against that person as well as he/she is the true "Slanderer" and the website is only partially responsible as it allowed the slander to stay on the site (if they did not remove it when you sent them the cease and desist letter).

My point... very long drawn out process, unless it's someone with deep pockets your never going to recover any money if you have to take it to court and chances are your going to spend a lot of money and hit a number of road blocks.

One SP in Ottawa did manage to take a escort discussion site to small claims court (by the time the court case was even started the site was long gone as it was not a very popular site) but she knew exactly who posted the slanderous comments and that really was who she was after so she did pursue it.

She did not need to look up the IP info and was able to confirm it was him when the site owner released his IP.

Basically... not really worth the time and effort past the cease and desist notice for anything bigger than small claims court (where you really don't need a lawyer for).
