fortunateone 156618 Report post Posted December 17, 2014 I still just find it bizarre that she actually thought she was allowed to be 'in' the sex trade in the first place. Agencies have never been allowed to sell or advertise or procure or live off the avails of sex workers. Agencies have only ever been permitted to advertise and charge for escorts, and time and companionship.
Ice4fun 78407 Report post Posted December 17, 2014 The way I see it her business model needed to change to reflect the realities of the new law ... so good for her. Time will tell what type of services the new business model will provide... but with the sale of sexual services now no longer happening in Canada I am sure it will not include that (wink wink). roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted December 17, 2014 Personally it seems like Cupids is just seeking attention No need for press release. Just advertise time and companionship. No reference to sex, (ie menus, acronyms) I doubt LE cares about Cupids. Only now Cupids may be on LE's radar, just from her press release. Should have just kept quiet and carried on as usual She Made Much Ado About Nothing RG
Andee 220524 Report post Posted December 17, 2014 I don't think she was ever promoting that the agency was in the sex trade per se. I believe she was just adhering to the old laws that sex for money was not illegal (except for certain circumstances) and that seeing clients on an out basis was legal. So if that happened to take place, so be it. (Hence providing condoms). Now she is operating like a true agent, that the she works for the ladies (hence, ho hiring now). They will now pay her a fee to book/screen their calls which I believe is legal as long as they promise they are not providing sexual services. Smart business move, I'd say. Oh, and the free press doesn't hurt either. Also, the benefit is that clients who might feel more at ease this way knowing she is taking every legal precaution she can for safety on both sides.
