Guest *Ste***cque** Report post Posted December 17, 2014 This is the time of year for parties, excessive spending and family gatherings. Sometimes it can all be a bit too much, especially if you're struggling or lonely. If, like me, this is not your favorite time of year, you're not alone. I find the following helps: - Christmas isn't perfect, despite everything you hear. Be present and enjoy what you can. - Set boundaries and a budget, if possible. - Help those less fortunate. It can really put things in perspective. - Be grateful for what you have instead of what others have. - Try not to ruminate in a negative way. - Do something fun! wink, wink - Especially now but throughout the year, for financial happiness never spend more than you earn. - If depression gets serious, talk to a friend or a professional. I wish everyone peace and contentment now and throughout the years. If you're blessed with more, share some of it. Steve
cinelli 22184 Report post Posted December 18, 2014 Everyone needs to lighten up and take it less seriously! It should be fun and not an ordeal. If you want to bake go ahead, but don't do it because you feel pressured. Same with trees, lights, cards, parties. Make it a time to enjoy each other's company. Visit friends you don't see very often. Only children under about twelve should get presents, and only a very few close friends. Please don't make it about what I want/what I got for Christmas.
