I use my money mart and much music card all the time. Those gift card ones are a pain because you have to go to the website and register your name and address to the card to use it. E.D. man 691 Report post Posted June 13, 2010 I prepaid $2000 on a crad and they started to charge me interest on my own money. They told told me I was spending there money even thjough I gave them $2000 up front. They tried to charge me $18. 50 on my last bill and I told them they owed me money and that I would take them to court. The fact is they were actually warned about doing this and had to repay someone else there money back. All of a sudden my next bill was 0. Stay away from Capital One for everything and anything. Carrie Moon 68826 Report post Posted June 13, 2010 Capital one is different from a pre-paid card. The money you refer to is a deposit and then you are trying to rebuild credit. A pre-paid card is just that.. a pre-paid card. You can't extend any credit whatsoever on a pre-paid card. You put money on it.. you can spend it. mod 135640 Report post Posted June 14, 2010 Carrie is correct... The capital one card is NOT a pre-paid card. It is reported to the credit bureaus and is intended to rebuild credit. The money you put down on it is a security deposit so if you use any of that money you will be billed interest!! I know a number of people who have used the capital one card that you put a deposit down to use it (It's not 2000.00 however... I think it's 200.00 or 400.00) and you must be sure to pay it off (Back to the full deposit amount) each month on time! (They are the only ones in Canada with such a card that I am aware of). The pre-paid cards aaa11111 is referring to are such things as the moneymart visa's and the MC mycards and such. These are NON REPORTING cards that you must LOAD up the money onto them. The third option is the VISA/MC gift cards - you can purchase them at places like wallmart. The ADULT and CASINO/CARD websites (and some other places) use advanced screening on the cards (as they are considered high risk) some cards are locked out of being used on these such places. - Many verify the postal code of the credit card bill - Many verify the name of the card holder and billing information because of this any card that is not registered with a billing address may be declined due to fraud verification. Some standard credit card companies also lock these types of sites out as well.
