Marriott expands in Canada by buying Delta Hotel brand

Recommended Posts

I'm sure they will just roll over your Delta privileges into the Marriot program because the hotel industry is ad always has been about repeat customers, so they will definitely want to keep you happy!:)

I'm a big fan of Delta hotels it is normally one of my first choices when I travel in Canada so I hope things don't change too much. Hotel concentration is never good for the consumer as it reduces competition.

My Email from Delta Rewards stated that we members would be advised when changes would be made. Goodbye free WiFi I think.

I do believe that most mergers lead to changes that are never positive for everyone. I am sure some people will lose a perk they really enjoy.

Given I have no issues with how both chains are managed and operated, I'm sure I'll be content with any changes!

I have stayed at lots of Marriott's over the years and generally have had nothing but good experiences... my only problem with Marriott's purchase of Delta is that awhile they plan on maintaining the separate brand I just think the common ownership will mean that they will use the new brand to provide coverage in the various market segments but they will not truly operate in competition with each other so that will mean less options and higher prices in general for consumers.
