If I had someone to look after my 2 canine boys, I'd take the train up in a heartbeat :).

I'll do my best, Erin :D. Especially for the chance to meet the Ottawa CERB Girls!

I gotta admit, I am so protective of my boys. They are both breeds that people tend to try to find fault with, so I'm very picky about who watches them ;).

Pets are like little people (well, maybe not so little sometimes...). I hear ya on wanting to be sure they're in good care in your stead. I'm guessing they're a pitbull and a rottie or a doberman? They're good breeds. It's how people choose to raise them that determines aggression. Statistically speaking small breeds are more aggressive and bite more often - it's just 'cause they have pitifully small jaws no damage gets done so you don't hear about it. And dalmations are the most likely breed to go schizo - they're so inbred the whole damned breed is a time bomb. Every pitbull I've ever met was the biggest, meekest little suck ever. Until it came time to protect the pack, that is, but that's how dogs are. Submit to the pack leader, protect the pack when it's threatened.

I'll be there when I get there (I don't know for sure when that's gonna be yet). I'll be the chick in a white Finland hockey cap. Probably in khaki shorts. I'll also have a Metro paper in hand.

If I head there after work, I'll be still dressed in my work clothing, I'll get a Metro paper to be noticeable.

Hey, what can I say? I know a little bit about a lot of things. Animals especially. I wanted to be a zoologist and idolized Jack Hanna. :-) Give the pooches a smooch for me!

The only reason we had an issue was because some clients didn't like their favorite SPs participating in Poly events. I won't event comment on how silly that sounds.

.....

The majority of us are not shy, and don't mind being seen together or in public. We were just protecting ourselves from close minded people. (Who'd a thunk it on CERB?)

it was not the ONLY issue that lead to us making the poly socials private but i do remember shushing you canuckhooker when your bellowing voice travelled when you were talking about X girl that you saw and X service she gave you etc when a waitress was dropping off our drinks and gave us a more than knowing look as to what you were talking about.

the keyword is discretion

I must remind everyone that discussing sex for money with a lady in a public place is ILLEGAL and the fact that this thread is visible to anyone that might not actually be a member but looking for an opportunity to catch someone in the act should be somethiong to think about. That being said, the guys have a lot more to worry about then the girls do so when I was all for the location being an email-only thing I did feel that everyone was being respected.

Its not about losing clients or lurkers, everyone should really think twice about who could be showing up to these if we put too much out there in the open, its not about being closed-minded, its about having respect for our fellow cerbites.

As of late I have been posting my face, I have nothing to lose by showing up but I have the deepest respect for the discretion of my clients and future clients so I woud ask that the next social be discreete and I would ask that the attendedees of this social play by the rules. I will be there by 6pm (as I promised another worker I would go so she would not be arriving solo), and hope that everyone else understands what I'm saying here :-(

we're not being paranoid for ourselves, just trying to look out for everyone else's best interests

PS the other thread states that the event starts at "5-ish" could we get a consistant timeframe so there are no people showing up too early and waiting around for an hour at 4pm if everyone thinks it starts at 5?

Yes Annessa, guilty as charged on having a bellowing voice the result of a hearing impairment that does allow the decibels to climb until someone reminds me. Yes and guilty of not doing the "shoulder check" to see that the waitress had walked up behind me. The risk one takes in a public venue.

However the topic as you described it does make me sound a little crass, disrespectful and indiscrete which you know is not the case. I may have been discussing something that could have been attributed to the hobby but I would not discuss those topics you described in an open forum.

However I will watch myself and if I do show up tomorrow will me wearing a ball-gag solve or exacerbate the problem?

the waitress was in front of you as i remember. but appologies if I had to call you on that one. just a friendly reminder that everyone should be discreet.

Discretion and mutual respect/courtesy are key. As I mentioned in the thread for this week's gathering, all are welcome, but if you cause trouble you will be ostracized.

Obviously we have different recollections Annessa. It is a shame that I was the only one who made that mistake, or is it am I the only one mentioned in this thread? Actually it was major enough to post about it in two threads, but granted you only mentioned my name once. Thanks for small mercies.

No fear to anyone going tomorrow of hearing my "bellowing voice" echoing through the Honest Lawyer about $50 BJs and who does greek. After these two posts, I seriously doubt I will have anything to do with it.

? I've already applogized to having to single you out as an example (here and in a PM) but like I said it was just a reminder that sometimes people forget...

theres not a malicious tone in my posts so I'd just like to clear that up. But its your choice as to whether you'd like to attend of not.

One of my apprehensions of not participating sorry:(, is exactly what is happening in this thread with canuckhooker.

Yes,Sorry I was not there last social to even comment on it, so I won't! but I don't think it was totally necessary to bring his name out in public.

I really hope all of you attending have a super nice time.

well if everyone would rather me not attend this social probably a good idea to say so now...as it is tomorrow. for a group that says its comfortable being "open" some certainly have a hard time being open to sugestions of how things have run well (or not well) in the past and diferentiating between making a point and a personal attack.

I've appoligized to canuck in private, I have no qualms with him or anyone else here. Hope to see you all tomorrow

Annessa that was not my point and intentions and I apologize for the above thread perhaps I should of shed more light on the subject.

I believe social events, if it is through employment, fund raisers, what ever people get together, have some fun, then after/during something is said and taken out of context.

My apprehensions are not purely judged on the thread, it is mainly due to individuals that like to always talk behind your back.

I have broad shoulders, but I have gained a solid relationship through people here, and privately. So I rather keep my life a mystery to those other gents out there. The ladies of course will get to know me in due time, in private.;-)

Thanks and seriously I hope everyone really has a good and well behaved time :)

Being called out is never pleasant, regardless whether in private or public forum. If it's necessary, is there a civil if not "nice" way to do it? I say, it depends. Seems clear enough to me the members involved in this latest exchange are respected in this community, and know, or know of, each other well enough to Live and let live. All the more reason to show up tomorrow in an open gathering and know, you are among friends. Peace out.
