Bianca Jaguar 39183 Report post Posted February 18, 2015 If anyone can help please let me know... at 6h30pm I receive at text from a number that I don't know asking me why I called him/her. To be clear here...this is my personal phone and not many have my number. I reply that I didnt call him/her...the person sends me a screen shot of my NAME and a call I supposely made at 1h46pm... First I have no idea how that could have happened...my history never showed that i called that number...even by mistake... The scariest part is that my real name appeared on his screen...my settings are set so my ID is blocked...How the hell could this happen!!! Can anyone help! whatsup 11893 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 Bianca, Sorry to say but your phone has been jacked. A close friend of mine had a very similar intervention by what I will call hackers. Time for a new number and perhaps phone. Hopefully you can get some better advice from a techno person, here.

CristyCurves 169032 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 I'm sorry I have no resolve for you but maybe peace of mind? As this similar thing has happened to me, although not to my Iphone but on my business # which is a land line. When I go out I forward that number to my I phone and once my number called my phone. My forwarded number called my phone! It showed up on my caller id as any other number would, the phone company was as perplexed as I was so to this day I still don't know how this happened. Hopefully you can find out why, all the best.

Ice4fun 78407 Report post Posted February 20, 2015 Not sure why assholes feel the need to give people a hard time and play games like that. Changing your phone number in this business has got to be a real pain in the ass but of course your safety and peace of mind has to come first. PatrickGC 10792 Report post Posted February 21, 2015 There are so many possibilities here that answering your question clearly and concisely might be literally impossible. However there are a few things you might do to better the odds of this never happening again: To be on the safe side, backup your information and have your phone factory reset. This is more than just taking the battery out, and the procedure verys between brands and models. If done correctly this will take your phone back to a brand new state, as though you are turning it on for the first time. This will ensure that nothing malicious is in the phone. Then you can reload your information. Modern phones are constantly sending out information. This is where a good chunk of your data plan goes to, even if you don't surf the Internet, and by default, most phones come loaded with all sorts of software which you will never need. So if you can find someone who is very knowledgeable with your specific phone that is willing to spend time on it [i.e. not a rushed salesperson] Get them to go through the phone with you and remove all the unnecessary apps. Many apps are poorly written from a security standpoint, so the less going on the better. If your service provider is being less than cooperative about this matter consider choosing another with a high rating from the Better Business Bureau. Because it is possible that it was a screwup on your service providers end. Here in Vancouver I know of one company who has a habit of overselling phones to the point where during peak hours their entire network gets overloaded and bizarre things start to happen. Hopefully this, or other messages have helped. Take care Bianca. PatrickGC
PatrickGC 10792 Report post Posted February 23, 2015 Just a little clarification about the message I posted if you days ago in this thread. I am surmising that the board has automated scripts go through each message posted every few days and replace inappropriate phrases. Which is a wise thing to do given the current political climate however, it can occasionally create confusing text in a message. In this case I was referring to a person's "cell-phone-company" my original phrasing was different, and and was automatically changed it to the word "ESCORT" by the system. So keep that in mind when reading the above message. It is also important to note that the automatic change in text did not happen immediately upon posting, otherwise I would have noticed a change and corrected my phrasing immediately, but took a day or two do occur. Ice4fun 78407 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 Your right Patrick the system censors your post but in my experience it happens almost immediately. Sent from my Passport using Tapatalk

fr33yay0 1172 Report post Posted April 22, 2015 That's easy to mask.... anyone on VOIP can mask any number. I wouldn't worry about, as long as it says no outboud calls from your phone, you're fine.
Jolie 3398 Report post Posted April 22, 2015 Who is your providers, are they all smart phones? Could be someone that works at your provider company and has ability to look up anyone's info they want to . I also had this happen though he did not state my real name or anything else , he said I called his number(angry voice) I stated nope wasn't me ,he said my number was on his phone ,I said maybe you should check who you are calling, hung up nothing since. Just a side note mine was a smart phone at the time ,shortly there after a day or two my phone suddenly shut off and I have been unable to ever get it back on again. I changed phones. Sorry last thing,I did not go back to a smart phone ,maybe you should consider having a smart phone for personal life and a stupid phone for this.

Ice4fun 78407 Report post Posted April 26, 2015 I had 2 phones before and I'm using a text app so i dont need 2 phones anymore... I think more and more ladies are choosing that option... it works well... eliminates the need to carry two phones which can also be hard to explain especially to family and if you have a problem and need to change numbers it can be done in minutes. Just my Opinion Sent from my Passport using Tapatalk
