CristyCurves 169032 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 Anyone want to make predictions as to who'll win? Do you have a favorite movie you think deserves best picture? Lets talk Oscars:) http://oscar.go.com/nominees I've only seen three of the best picture nominees- Birdman Selma Grand Budapest hotel I'm hoping Selma wins
Luckyme 41401 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 I have seen just two so far - Grand Budapest Hotel and The Limitations Games. The latter is way better, in my humble opinion. Hope it will win big!
spud271 47779 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 In the acting categories, only Best Actor is up for grabs. Best Actress - Julianne Moore - Still Alice Best Supporting Actor - J.K. Simmons - Whiplash Best Supporting Actress - Patricia Arquette - Boyhood Best Actor, my vote would be for Michael Keaton. Though I'm pretty sure it'll end up being Eddie Redmayne. I saw both Birdman and The Theory of Everything, and Eddie Redmayne's performance is way overrated. Michael Keaton was outstanding in Birdman.

conquistador 18487 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 Out of best picture, I've only seen imitation game which I thought was interesting and excellent... The actor was great and keira is always good ;) However I think Selma will probably win, and one I def want to see, as well as whiplash. As for best actor, not sure here but I'll say Michael keaton, looks really good. Best supporting actor jk Simmons for sure, looks very intense in that movie... One to see. I go to the theaters often enough, guess I should be watching better movies haha... No guardians of the galaxy?! Lol
Helena D'Orville 33237 Report post Posted February 19, 2015 I have seen Birdman and Grand Budapest Hotel. Hard for me to go for a choice for best picture because I have not seen all the movies, but Birdman was impressive according to me. Many things in the way it is directed could have gone south, but work very well. Michael Keaton is amazing in it. I have no cable or satellite - got rid of it a few months ago because I was fed up - but I miss watching shows like the Golden Globes and the Oscars. Does someone have a tip so that I can see them online? Thanks if you do. I don't know if it is possible though.

Guest A**aTo**h Report post Posted February 21, 2015 I'd like to see Boyhood win; spending a dozen years making a (very good) movie deserves some accolades, and Richard Linklater is a great indie director. If not that, Birdman is a worthy runner up. Selma likely won't win due to the gross historical inaccuracies, such as vilifying LBJ, who was a supporter and ally of MLK Jr. and not his enemy. American Sniper is just too dark for the conservative Academy to vote on, besides, it has done well enough at the box office anyway (have to admit though, I wish Clint had been nominated for best director, what a guy!) Grand Budapest was a wonderful film, but a comedy (unless a black one like Birdman) rarely wins. So, I think it will be a coin toss over Boyhood and Birdman. I'm embarrassed to say I wasn't aware of the historical inaccuracies of Selma:(, thank you for that info. I wonder why they'd make such an important film without proper facts. Any how, it still was a good movie, but you are right because of that, it shouldn't win. However, I guess I have missed the mark with Birdman, I just don't see it's fabulousity, lol and maybe because I'm not a Keaton fan. I agree Clint certainly has put out some great movies and should be awarded for doing so. I guess Sunday will be telling-enjoy the Oscars:)
Luckyme 41401 Report post Posted February 21, 2015 I have seen just two so far - Grand Budapest Hotel and The Imitations Game. The latter is way better, in my humble opinion. Hope it will win big! Added a couple more to my "watched" list -- Birdman, and The Theory of Everything. Although Birdman and Boyhood are the top favorites to win the best film award, I will be pulling for The Imitation Game, unless I'll have a chance to watch Boyhood before Sunday night and it changes my mind. The TIG just has the allure, appeal and attraction to keep me interested and immersed throughout the whole film.

Guest sc*****sche** Report post Posted February 21, 2015 I don't plan to watch the Oscars. Been slowly losing my interest over the past years. Might watch in the future. But not this year.
spud271 47779 Report post Posted February 23, 2015 I didn't really watch much of the show, as there was not a whole lot of suspense as to who would win. The acting categories went exactly as I predicted. Sure enough, Michael Keaton got ripped off. At least they got pretty much every other category right for a change.
1963Kennedy 10698 Report post Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) I recorded the Oscars and watched it with a delay such that I could skip over much of it. I found the host (Neil Patrick Harris ?) pretty dull. I still miss Billy Crystal. For me, the highlight was Lady Gaga's performance; I've always loved the movie, A Sound of Music. Then to have Julie Andrews come on stage was so very special. Lady Gaga quickly left the stage not to share it any longer with Julie. I only saw 1 of the best picture nominees so I can't really comment of the major awards. If Selma was historically inaccurate, that's a major faux pas. American Sniper was too close to home-couldn't watch the whole movie. The ladies-so many were stunning & I didn't see them all but Rosamund Pike in her red dress certainly looked best dressed to me. Oops its Neil Patrick Harris Edited February 23, 2015 by 1963Kennedy correct name

CristyCurves 169032 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 So did you have fun watching the Oscars, Cristy? Lol, I fell asleep through most of it, but did get to see the beginning and a few other bits and pieces. What I saw was boring, though some of the speeches were touching, as was Lady Gaga's performance. Sadly I missed john legend and Commons song. Over all it was predictable but was still fun seeing all the glamor.
spud271 47779 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 I'm pretty happy that Birdman won for Best Picture. Was an amazing film and highly recommend it. Also pretty pleased that Whiplash and The Grand Budapest Hotel each received some Oscars. Again, both these films are on my recommendation list...both are absolutely brilliant!
