Ignoring the age-differential clauses in Section 150, which apply only to young people:

 

1) A client 18 or older (an adult) is legal

2) A client younger than 16 (a minor) is illegal

3) A client at least 16 but younger than 18 (a "young person"): I don't know whether this is legal or illegal. The answer would depend on if you are in a position of authority over that client, or if you are exploiting that client. As I said, I don't know whether taking money from a "young person" in exchange for sex would be interpreted as exploitative, but as a layman I can see how it might be interpreted that way. Only the professionals would be in a position to answer that one, I think.

I'm not sure what the specific reason is, since in other provinces the legal age is 18, if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps Nova Scotia is marching to the beat of it's own drum. Then again, in the States, you're not of legal age until you turn 21.

It's true that 19 is the age of majority for a number of things in Nova Scotia. I believe one must be 19 to consume alcohol, sign a legal contract without a guardian's co-signature, etc. To mix and serve alcoholic beverages one must be aged 19. To purchase tobacco products, one must be aged 19. Voting age is of course 18.

 

Searching on the web, I find nothing on escorting:

A well known escort agency used to place ads in the paper when hiring new ladies. If I remember correctly it read "Now hiring - 19+" Combined with the fact that they checked ID's of both the ladies they hired, as well as patrons, and the fact that legal age for the consumption of alcohol / tobacco is 19, I assumed one must be 19 in order to partake.

 

Again, this information is accurate only as far as I am aware. If this is not the case, then I stand corrected.

I've seen 18 yr olds..but i've never checked id..so as far as i know- they could've been 16 or 17. but that fine as far as i know- ya, cuz they're calling me, and i'm not much older...preeety sure thats fine. Whats the difference in real life anyway? If i were to fuck a 16 yr old as a 21 yr old...?
