roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted March 18, 2015 I know a news story but seems appropriate for tech corner too RG http://www.ctvnews.ca/sci-tech/rip-internet-explorer-web-reacts-to-browser-s-demise-1.2285860
stewie15 310 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 They reported this on CBC tonight and played a clip of Bill Gates speaking in '93. He predicted the smartphone of today. It was spooky "You'll see where you are on a map, you will buy tickets, communicate with others, will pay for things electronically, store thousands of pictures and music, it will even be able to replace keys" etc etc. What a visionary. I mean this was before the World Wide Web was up and running.
Dunstan Ramsay 1882 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 Instead of RIP, I prefer to think "Good Riddance". Although it's not dead, just reinvented. Giving it a new name and branding.
conquistador 18487 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 Never really used it, since there are much better browsers out there. If you neglect something, it will usually fail or be ignored. Hopefully the replacement will be much better, probably wont sway me still.
fr33yay0 1172 Report post Posted March 19, 2015 Replacing it will make sense for a little while... I have always used the top three and interchanged them, although they did a good job with Chrome lately. I.E. is fine for work environments as well, never had much an issue. Phaedrus 209521 Report post Posted March 20, 2015 They should go back to calling it Mosaic :)
Guest D***el B***e Report post Posted March 20, 2015 I'll miss Internet Explorer. It was the best browser ever to download other browsers. However I've stayed away from Chrome because I think any Google software is in reality top notch spyware.
MightyPen 67414 Report post Posted March 22, 2015 Haha! Their replacement is dubbed "Project Spartan." I hope they keep the name, and use Gerard Butler as as spokesman.
