Guest N***he**Ont**y Report post Posted March 22, 2015 Interesting article. Thanks for sharing. The last time I was at a club was in the early '90s.
Greenly 791 Report post Posted March 22, 2015 Another reason for their declining popularity - they're getting too damn expensive! Cover charges, expensive booze, $20 for a table dance or lap dance. Better to spend your money on some intimate time with an escort.
Grass_Hopper 18263 Report post Posted March 22, 2015 On the sunny side, I feel like the strip clubs will offer more variety and more strippers (perhaps more quality ones also). They probably going to become dive or gents clubs, depending on their politics, but I feel the customer will have more "bang" for their buck... Just saying...
Ice4fun 78407 Report post Posted March 24, 2015 I kinda agree it is hard for a strip club to compete with all the available alternatives... when i was younger strip clubs never really had as much competition... now there are all kinds of alternatives and the cost is way higher. Just my Opinion Sent from my Passport using Tapatalk
Guest Lep*******1**7 Report post Posted March 24, 2015 Strip clubs still have many very beautiful women, but with so many restrictions and all compared to the other alternatives, they are bound to disappear. Some of the women will move on to other related trades or give up completely. There is still something very special about an attractive woman who knows how to dance and put on a show. Can be very hot. At about a grand for 15 minutes it is also not too great a deal anymore when compared to a great massage or more.
Dan123 290 Report post Posted March 24, 2015 I have not been in a strip club in years since I started seeing MA's and I used to be there quite often. Would be interesting to know if there has been an increase for MA's in Kelowna.
wonderboy300 100 Report post Posted March 24, 2015 In vancouver, it's 40-50 dollars a lap dance! Of course it's a dying breed when the prices are that high!
oldblueeyez 15475 Report post Posted March 24, 2015 Considering inflation, I don't think the prices at strip clubs are too far out of line. Back in the 90s it was $10 a dance; so $20 a dance now seems fair. A night out at a strip joint can be great fun, especially if the ladies are frisky in the back room and willing to give you their number. :-) If the dancer likes shots of Fireball I'm quite willing to buy her a few; it pays off later! ;-) The last time I was at a stripclub, last fall, I didn't ask for numbers, I was offered them (and I'm under no illusions, it was for takeout). Things are different in the big cities of course, but here in the sticks if you wear a suit you sure as hell stand out from the camo-wearing crowd. It impresses the dancers as they think you have money, but little did they know I bought the suit at a secondhand store. :P "Game Boy"??!! Not out of touch just a little bit, is he?
Cloud 1210 Report post Posted March 28, 2015 In Winnipeg it's $30 per dance - no contact (not that I mind). In the early 2000s it was $20. Here's the thing: it's the exact same type of dance! And in two of the clubs (Lipstixx and Teasers) they now have these tiny cubicles in which the girls can't really move around in and put on a good private show. Thus, you're paying more for less. The inflation argument doesn't work for me unless you can point out a reason why the cost of providing the dance has increased. Has the price of music gotten more expensive? Maybe the costumes cost more. If anyone knows then please tell me. Also in Winnipeg the focus is on good stage shows. We have a number of high quality feature entertainers that come here often who put on spectacular shows. I think the real problem is that the clubs either can't or don't know how to promote themselves.
