I wasn't sure where to post this but it's just some friendly advice

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

It took me a long time to even consider posting this but I think it must be brought to everyone?s attention. It may have been posted before but I think it needs to be brought up again if it already hasn?t. This is not a rant, just some friendly advice.

I understand that work and personal life issues come up; they do for me, other SP?s and Hobbyist.

For me as an SP?s and others hopefully agree it takes a lot of time with emails and booking appointments and it is greatly appreciated to notify an SP as soon as possible if you are unable to keep your appointment, usually an hour to two in advance even 24hrs is appreciated by some. This gives us the opportunity and the time to book another appointment. I know and understand that you may have to cancel closer to the appointment time because you never know what the day will bring. I have had to do so myself.

The real big issue is ?no shows?, I find this very disrespectful to the SP who has taken the time to book the appointments and to get ready and prepare. It only takes a simple phone call, email or text instead of not just showing up. Not showing up does not inspire trust and I or another SP may never book another appointment with someone who is a ?no show?.

I understand that you may be nervous or a first timer but to just not show up and have an SP waiting is truly inconsiderate. Just notify us ASAP. I never get upset and I am very understanding but a ?no show? is a no no.

Couldn't agree more, and it applies to both hobbiest and sp's...as I just recently experienced. Won't post details in public, but it wasn't a good experience

Great post. Very diplomatic but to the point. Lets have some respect guys. I know life has a way of throwing twists at you, but unless your dialing finger is broken, there's no excuse.

I always thank clients for letting me know they are cancelling. Even if it's 10 mins before the appointment. Positive reinforcement. No shows immediately go on my do-not-answer list.

Hi Lexi

I agree with all your comments.......it is just being decent and having good manners IMHO

Perhaps a 'No Sow' registry for repeat offenders is in order to eliminate those that constantly book times and then don't show up, without even calling.....

This has been covered before many times and it doesn't seem to help in cutting down the number of no shows. At least one lady on here has started asking for a deposit from first time clients and she has found that works although I would have thought that would cut down on people willing to book.

Most ladies will not accept blocked nbrs or calls from a pay phone as these have higher potential to be nuisance or pranksters who are just messing with you.

I don't think we'll ever be able to totally get rid of this problem as there are a lot of really inconsiderate people out there.

I completely agree with you, Lexy. I've been very fortunate in the fact that I've never had to cancel an appointment. However, I do at times have a very unpredictable work schedule since I am "on call" in addition to my regular hours. Therefore, in my initial contact with an SP, I advise them of this fact in advance. I also assure them that in the event something unforeseen occurs, I will notify them at my earliest convenience. After all, it's just common courtesy.

Thanks Everyone,

I truly was hesitant to post this. I agree 100% with what Lindsay has said even 10 minutes and everyone who has contributed their thoughts. Just let us know and as an SP the same should be expected. Like drlove said "After all, it's just common courtesy".

I agree. The 1 and only time I was ever even late to an appointment the skytrain I was on broke down and my cell died. I still showed up, and paid for the full hour even tho it actually ended up being a quickie cause she'd booked a guy right behind me Not her fault I was late, she booked the time I asked, it's just fairI paid.

That depends where you're from Lexxy, I've lived damn near 3 years in Lethbridge and unless you're willing to go agency, which I don't do for a few reasons, there isn't anyone any closer than Calgary that I've found ("bout 4 hours by car, which I don't have) FORTUNATELY there's a girl I know from Calgary who's willing to plan weekend trips here around when I want dates. She's a sweetie and I just might have to stuff the envelope some, And get her wine and flowers ta boot...:)

Lexy,

Depending on the rate, it can take several months for me to save up enough cash to go see a provider. For instance, the lady I see in Calgary, can take me up to 10 months to save for a two-hour session. Unless I'm dying, there is no way I'm going to miss an appointment with her. (Aside from the fact that she is probably the most talented provider I've ever seen :-)) for me, I prefer my providers to consider me a friend with financial benefits. Wasting her time is not very friendly, so I don't do it. :-)

Cancellations are understandable, whether it be the hobbiest or the SP. Hopefully sufficient notice can be given, but like others have said, sometimes life gets in the way. Regardless of the amount of notice, a call or a text is always warranted. A no-show is unacceptable and clearly shows a total lack of respect. Unless there was a really great excuse, I would never see someone who no-showed.

Agreed, life happens, and sometims 1 simply cannot be where 1 is supposed to, but in todays world of laptops pdas smartphones, internet caffe, mesage boards and gods know how mmany other ways to sltay connected, you cannot tell me there's no possible way you could somehow touch base if something comes up. A noshow is simply too lasy to make the required effort.

Well said. I like that "friend with financial benefits". I use the term friend when meeting with someone, as my ads in other places say most of the time "New Friends Welcomed".

You hit the ball out of the park on that one. I will never see a no-show, it shows they have no respect for me as a lady and my profession.

I agree. There is no need not to notify either if you can't show.

The no-show game has plagued us "forever" and even though common courtesy should prevail, it often doesn't. On the same note, I have had other SPs pull no-shows on me for duos, and these are supposedly reputable ladies - so it's not just clients who are doing this.

I timed it - it takes less than 10 seconds to call and say, I can't make it. Plain and simple.

I agree and feel for you for having a "reputable SP not show" wow.

It takes less than 20 seconds for me to send the same e-mail using my voice recognition software, and I don't even have to be at the computer to do it, so I really have no excuse. :-)
